ChinaJoy Still On - China's Largest Gaming Expo

While some of the largest gaming events in the world have cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it's been confirmed that ChinaJoy, China's largest gaming expo, will continue. Taking place in Shanghai from July 31 through August 3, the massive event pulls in an attendance of hundreds of thousands.

Last year the show reported having over 360 thousand attendees.

And they want to continue holding the event for in-person this year.

ChinaJoy (ChinaJoy Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference), will be taking measures for attendee health. This includes temperature measurements, staggered display booths, and a health code requirement, according to organizers.

While the most severe outbreak of the pandemic has been handled and China has eased at-home restrictions, new cases have emerged and there is a strong consensus from the global health community that COVID-19 will likely return in the fall. An in-person event like ChinaJoy would be a hot zone for passing along the virus.

A few days ago, Paris Games Week (October) and Tokyo Games Show (September) announced their 2020 cancellations.
